The couple lived hours apart while Shereen, a Clarksburg native, started her legal career in Charleston and Bryce, originally from Beckley, finished up his medical school training in Lewisburg. On a visit to Charleston to see his Shereen, Bryce decided the time was right to ask for her hand in marriage.

He proposed on the steps of the West Virginia Capitol building. They were the only two around in what is usually a busy and bustling place. The proposal was perfect, according to Shereen, and the couple set out planning their “I do’s.”

They chose Lewisburg as the setting for their nuptials, with a traditional ceremony at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and wore a vintage-inspired wedding dress by Stella York.

The dress featured a lace and tulle overlay, trumped silhouette, and sweetheart neckline. She carried a bouquet of white garden roses, white peonies, and a mix of greenery. A reception with family and friends followed at the historic General Lewis Inn.

The theme of the event was a southern garden party, and the décor incorporated rosemary in many elements including the bouquets and arrangements, the groomsmen’s boutonnieres, a vodka rosemary lemonade that was served, and the table settings. Guests shared a meal with the couple before the newlyweds set out to carve their four-tiered cake with multiple layers in flavors of chocolate and champagne.

In lieu of favors, the couple made donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia and the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Society. Following a wedding trip to tropical Grenada, the couple returned home to Charleston, where Shereen works as a lawyer, and Bryce, as a doctor.
