Allison and A.J. spent fours years together in the same homeroom at South Charleston High School before A.J. finally decided to ask Allison’s father for his permission to propose.

A.J. also asked for a certain family diamond, special to the bride because it had belonged to her late grandfather. Allison’s father happily obliged, A.J. had the sentimental ring made, and he proposed to Allison along one of their favorite hiking trails. The proposal was complete with a hired guitar player, champagne, and that special ring.

Rain threatened to ruin plans for the outdoor wedding that the couple planned, but the deluge held off just long enough for Allison and A.J. to exchange vows on a scenic spot overlooking Blackwater Falls in Davis. The park was the perfect place to capture the beauty of West Virginia and held a special place for Allison’s family, who vacationed there each summer. Her father had even lifeguarded in the park when he was a teen.

After the ceremony, the couple joined guests under a large tent to enjoy a dinosaur-themed party. Both Allison and A.J. are fans of Jurassic Park. Each table was decorated with small gold-colored dinosaurs, friends showed up to the party in inflatable dinosaur costumes, and a special story called A Lovely Love Story, about two dinosaurs who fell in love, was used in their ceremony.

There were delicious food, hilarious speeches, dancing, and laughter, and overnight guests were treated to West Virginia–themed gift baskets that Allison put together for the occasion. The couple embarked on a wedding trip to Antigua before returning home to their new life as a married couple in South Carolina.
